LocWorld comes to town...

One of the largest tradeshows in the translation industry is undoubtedly LocWorld and this year it will be held in Dublin. John Moran, co-founder of Transpiral will be presenting at the FEISGILTT pre-conference workshop on the topic of CAT tool instrumentation and his research work in the Centre for Next Generation Localisation. For the uninitiated computer-aided-translation (CAT) tools are word processors that translators use to improve their speed and consistency. Instrumentation is a technique whereby translator activity data is recorded in a CAT tool. iOmegaT, the world's first offline instrumented CAT tool is used by large translation buyers like Welocalize and HP to test the impact of technologies like machine translation on translation speed.
